THE SCIENCE

Developed with the goal of targeting the anti-aging gene Klotho using a novel revolutionary approach based on a combination of microbiome medicine, genetics & epigenetics.

Intracellular Klotho Formula (IKF) is a naturally formulated proprietary microbial complex engineered by molecular biologists.

The symbiosis of live microbes and their matrix optimize the microbiota and produce a number of biologically active molecules.

IKF stimulates the endogenous production of Klotho, has Klotho-like molecules of microbial origin and also has microbiologically-enhanced Astragalus and Resveratrol that are known natural anti-aging molecules that work on pathways synergistic with those of Klotho.

Discovered in 1997, the age-suppressor gene, Klotho, codes for a protein, also termed Klotho, that circulates throughout the blood, brain and spine in the course of life and declines with aging.

Named after the mythological Greek goddess Klotho (responsible for spinning the thread of life), this gene performs many biological functions and appears to be the most significant and consequential factor determining human lifespan.

We all know about the brain in our head: the ‘first brain’. About 20 years ago, the concept of a ‘second brain’ emerged following the discovery of neurons embedded in the wall of the gastrointestinal tract.

This ‘second brain’ contains almost as many neurons as our ‘first brain.’ The information between the neurons in the first and second brain have been discovered to be interconnected and bi-directional.

When you have a ‘gut feeling’ it is literally that. More than 90% of the body’s serotonin lies in the gut, as well as about 50% of the body’s dopamine.

Researchers in the fields of psychiatry and neurology have increasingly begun to expand treatments to focus on the gut, mainly through nutrition.

More than 10 years ago, researchers begun to appreciate the importance of what is now considered a new organ whose function and significance had gone undetected for nearly 3000 years in human anatomy: the microbiome.

Like a ‘third brain’ we can think of the microbiome as another essential operating system of our body.

Consisting of trillions of bacteria, fungi, viruses and other microbes, your ‘third brain’ weighs about 2 kilos (4.5 pounds), consists of round about 50% of the cells in your body, and over 70% of the DNA.

This essentially means that we are less than 30% human!

Many years of research brought us to the realisation that the microbiome can be considered as a ‘third brain,’ and it contains valuable information required to live long, healthy lives, precisely because it contains more than 99% of all the genetic information that we need.
